Record the Steamwork to fill in tax information and sign the W8 form. Due to the China-US tax treaty, only 10% tax is levied when filling in the Chinese taxpayer number (ID number). If the Chinese taxpayer number is not filled in and "no taxpayer number" is selected, a 30% tax will be charged.
Whether it is a 10% or 30% tax, you will receive a 1042-S tax form in March of the following year. The difference is that the tax form for 10% tax can only be filed, while the tax form for 30% tax can be filed and refunded.
After receiving the tax form, go to the official website of the US Internal Revenue Service to download and print the W7 and 1040NR forms, fill them out, and finally send the W7, 1040NR, 1042S forms, and the original passport together to the US Internal Revenue Service to apply for tax filing or refund. For the first application, a new ITIN (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) will be generated for you.
